1960s Terms: Rise of Feminism

Rise of Feminism:
Women were often seen as housewives, who just stayed at home to cook and clean for family. But in the early 1960s, people started to realize that women should have the same rights as men.  Legislation such as the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Title IX brought legal reform, especially as Feminists marched and protested across the United States. They wrote books too.  This is important because women began to get the same rights as men and get greater freedom to wear pants, get jobs, become politicians, go places without their husbands all of the time. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960s#The_rise_of_feminism]
