1960 US presidential election:
Until the 1960 election, Dwight D. Eisenhower was President. Then John F. Kennedy ran and won. He became the first and only Roman Catholic to become president of the United States. This vote was the closest any vote has been since 1916, and also, this was the first election that Alaska and Hawaii voted in.
